Airdrie, you certainly never disappoint. We had another great turn out this past Saturday for a night filled with action from the very first bell.
As the show was about to begin PBW Champion, Jack Jester, made his way to the ring. Once again Jester insisted that he would not be waiting until the end of the night to defend his title, instead demanding that he be allowed to open the show so he could leave Airdrie as soon as possible. The champion's constant dismissal of management's wishes has led PBW owner, Ross Watson, to issue a formal warning to Jester. Watson has informed him that he will be the main event at Breaking Limits 10 in Greenock or he will be stripped of his title. There is no word as of yet on who his opponent will be.
However, we do know who will be challenging for the belt at the next Airdrie Town Hall show. The winner of the three way match between Joe Coffey, BT Gunn, and Davey Blaze was promised this very opportunity. All three competitors looked determined to succeed as they faced off in the ring. It was only at the very last second that TJ Rage was announced as the fourth and final contender in the match, with it remaining unclear whether or not his involvement was officially sanctioned by management. What followed was an all out war. Eventually Blaze and Gunn brawled to the back, leaving Rage and Coffey to battle it out for the win. After an extremely hard-fought match it was TJ Rage who came out on top, securing his title shot in October.
Several matches on the night included a few PBW Academy students who all did their schools proud. One standout match was Dylan Angel vs Aaron Echo. Angel had been due to finally get his chance to go one on one with Stevie Xavier, but with Xavier having to pull out due to injury, Echo was drafted in as his replacement. While this could have been viewed as a PBW Academy showcase match on paper, it turned out to be anything but. The two young men pulled out all the stops, with many saying their's was the match of the night. Angel astounded fans with his agility and high flying move set. The young athlete had been looking to make his mark in PBW, and he certainly managed that.
PBW management would like to thank all the fans in attendance for creating such a brilliant atmosphere on the night. We are already looking forward to being back in Airdrie in October!
